Position: Automated Systems Design Technician
The Automated Systems Design Technician is responsible for the detailed design and drafting of automated systems based on concepts and technical guidelines defined by the engineer.
They contribute to project execution by ensuring the quality, accuracy, and consistency of drawings and 3D models, while optimizing the manufacturing and assembly of systems.
They work closely with engineers, programmers, and production teams to ensure smooth and efficient project delivery.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create 3D models of automated systems
- Produce manufacturing drawings (2D) and assembly drawings
- Detail technical concepts in collaboration with the engineer
- Adapt designs according to manufacturing and installation constraints
- Contribute to design improvements to optimize cost, performance, and assembly
- Review and revise drawings based on feedback
- Collaborate with suppliers to validate technical aspects or dimensions
- Support assembly teams during manufacturing and installation
- Participate in testing and technical adjustments when required
- Plan and organize work according to project priorities
- Ensure the quality and compliance of produced drawings
- Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation
- Communicate effectively with engineers and internal teams
- Identify and report inconsistencies or technical issues
- Contribute to the improvement of design and drafting standards
Qualifications and Skills:
- College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 0 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design (depending on level)
- Experience in manufacturing or automation (asset)
- Proficiency with design tools (Onshape, SolidWorks, or equivalent)
- Knowledge of mechanical design principles
- Understanding of automated systems (asset)
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Ability to create accurate 3D models and technical drawings
- Ability to understand and interpret technical concepts
- Problem-solving skills in detailed design
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel to client sites (measurements, validation, commissioning)
- Hybrid work possibility (minimum 3 days/week on-site)
