Department – Mechanical Design

Position: Mechanical Designer / Mechanical Design Draftsperson

The Mechanical Designer is responsible for the design, development, and improvement of mechanical systems across a variety of projects. This role works closely with other departments to create efficient solutions while meeting deadlines, budget constraints, and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design robotic cells for a range of applications
  • Develop and simulate robotic cell concepts
  • Produce detailed 2D and 3D drawings for the fabrication of robotic cells
  • Perform drawing revisions
  • Approve and sign design drawings (engineer)
  • Communicate and collaborate with suppliers for component selection, sizing, and quotations
  • Support the assembly team during installation of various robotic cells
  • Participate in research and development projects (robot tooling tests, system trials, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Vocational diploma in industrial drafting, DEC in mechanical engineering, or any relevant training
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in automated or robotic systems
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and design tools (CAD, simulations, FEA)
  • Solid knowledge of materials and strength of materials
  • Background in mechatronics, robotics, or automated systems
  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards and regulations
